Bayon: huge Buddhist temple decorated by more then 1200 meters of bas-relief containing more then 11.000 figures and the impressive 54 towers with the big face carved on the top. The Bayon is located in the perfect centre of Angkor Thom, the fortified city. Visit of Ta Phrom: built in year 1186 by Jajavarman VII as a Buddhist monastery this temple has been left partially unrestored, massive fig and benjamin trees grow from the towers and the corridors. This temple has been dedicated by the King to his mother and was one of the wealthiest temple, inhabited by more then 12000 people with vast stores for jewels and gold. Angkor Wat: the biggest, the nicest and for sure the most famous temple of Angkor. King Suryavarman II built it around he 1150, it occupies a surface of 1.950.000 square meters and the internal walls measure 1300 by 800 meters. It is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by five towers rising 65 meters from the ground level. It is considered one of the most beautiful monuments in the whole world. It was dedicated to Vishnu and is the only temple in Angkor facing west. Lunch in a typical restaurant, Dinner at hotel.
Day 03: SIEM REAP (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Full day visit of the temples. One of the oldest sacred constructions Prasat Kravan was built in 921: five sanctuaries with elegant shapes dedicated at the cult of Visnu, built of break and aligns on a base face East. Breaks were also used to build in 952 Mebon: Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva constructed on a tiny island in the centre of the now dry Eastern Baray. Nine years later the King Rajendravarman built Pre Rup: huge mountain - temple with warm ochre color. In the golden period of Jayavarman VII were built the huge Buddhist temple Pra Kan: the "sacred sword" temple and Banteay Kdey: Buddhist monastic complex and Neak Poan: Buddhist temple known for its “coiled serpents” represented here. The small central temple sits in the centre of a lotus pattern made up of five pools. Srah Srang: picturesque baray. Lunch in a typical restaurant, Dinner at the hotel.
Day 04: SIEM REAP (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Full-day visit of "out of the circuit" temples. Departure from Banteay Samre, a fabulous sanctuary of XII century dedicated to the cult of Vishnu, it has been one of the best restorations done with the anastilosi method. The visit continues with Banteay Srey: "The citadel of the women", consecrated in 967. Completely surrounded by jungle, seems very little, as miniaturize temple, but is a miracle of elegance and harmonize proportion with spectacular bass-relief which represent the apex of the figurative art of Khmer. A third spectacular example of Khmer art is surrounded by jungle: Beng Mealea, the wild vegetation surrounding the ruins of the temple offer a suggestive view and give the sensation to be back in time during the 1913 when the archeologists deforested the site and supported the unstable structure. The central Prasat collapsed as many other buildings, but we can still admire decorations, bass-relief very well executed. The Plant of the central sanctuary measure 152 meters per 181 meters, and has many analogies wit Angkor Wat even thou it doesn’t have a pyramid structure but horizontal. The way is hard and there is some footbridges but sometimes is necessary to walk over ruins and go trough little passage as a “Treasure hunting” Lunch in typical restaurant and Dinner in Hotel
